ÌTAN – Story of ÒRÌŞÀ OKO, The Mermaid AGANA ERI and ỌLỌ́KUN, and the Pact with Bàbá Odùdúwà: ÒRÌŞÀ OKO, Agana Eri, ỌLỌ́KUN and why we have to do ẸBỌ (Sacrifice) with ỌLỌ́KUN and the Sea in order to prevent the Wrath of these Deities to invade with their waters the land. One day ÒRÌŞÀ OKO was walking near the beach and he meet a Mermaid (Agana Eri), she was the most beautiful woman that ÒRÌŞÀ OKO has seen. ÒRÌŞÀ OKO fell in Love with the Mermaid, and he told her that he wanted to marry her, but the Mermaid told him that she couldn’t: “I can’t marry you, because my father lives in the deepness of the ocean, and I have to go before him to ask for his Blessings, so he can grant me the Gift to transform my fish tail into human legs.” The Mermaid was a woman with a beautiful face, but she had a deformed body, full of balls, and tumors. ÒRÌŞÀ OKO told her: “It doesn’t matter to me any defects or deformities you have, I want you it be my wife. Let’s go before your father and ask for his Blessings.” The Mermaid took ÒRÌŞÀ OKO before his father, ỌLỌ́KUN. ỌLỌ́KUN told him that he came to ask him for his permission to marry his Daughter. ỌLỌ́KUN told him: “You want to marry my daughter? And you believe that you deserve her?” ÒRÌŞÀ OKO told him: “Yes, I believe that I love her. I am a hardworking man, my job is to give fertility to the earth, and from that, I make my living. I am going to support your daughter, and she wouldn’t lack anything in life.” ỌLỌ́KUN told him: “You know that my Daughter lives in my kingdom, and that she lacks nothing and anything she ask me is given to her. Whatever she ark for you will give it to her?” ÒRÌŞÀ OKO answers: “Yes I will give it to her.” ỌLỌ́KUN told him: “All right, I will grant her the Gift of transforming her fish tail into human legs.” ỌLỌ́KUN transforms her fish tail into human legs, later he formed human female sexual organs, but her legs remain the same as before, full of balls, abscess and tumors and deformities. ỌLỌ́KUN took them to the surface of the earth. ÒRÌŞÀ OKO began working to give her all she wanted, and his woman help him. One day ÒRÌŞÀ OKO fought with his wife, because ÒRÌŞÀ OKO believed that she lost and “Owo” (money). They began arguing for that money, the discussion heated up, and ÒRÌŞÀ OKO told her: “Look, how I could go and marry you, since you are full of deformities, I no longer love you.” The Mermaid turns away and she goes to the deep, the bottom of the ocean. ỌLỌ́KUN saw her and ask her. What happen? The Mermaid told ỌLỌ́KUN what ÒRÌŞÀ OKO told to her, and ỌLỌ́KUN said: “OH, so he told you that, I will go to talk to that man. ỌLỌ́KUN goes to the surface of the Earth with all his carriages and his whole sea court, when he arrives at the beach, ỌLỌ́KUN asked the people there if they knew where ÒRÌŞÀ OKO was, and that he wanted to talk to him. The whole town was fearful, and told ỌLỌ́KUN; “Wait, we will find him and bring him before you.” The whole town was with their heads down to the floor. ÒRÌŞÀ OKO arrives, and ỌLỌ́KUN told him: “I told you that you were going to take care of my daughter, and that you were going to treat her as I treated her in my kingdom. From now on, and forever, while the earth be earth, and the sea be sea, the Sea is going to invade the earth as many times the sea wanted.” That was the CURSE that ỌLỌ́KUN gave to the Earth. For that reason is that we have to give offerings to the sea, in order that the sea will not invade the earth. After that, ÒRÌŞÀ OKO married YEMOYALE (Yemaya). The Mermaid was called AGANA ERI that she was the daughter of ỌLỌ́KUN with the most beautiful face, but she was the one with the ugliest body of all of ỌLỌ́KUN daughters. The Seven daughters of ỌLỌ́KUN were the most beautiful of face and body, the only one with deformities on the body was AGANA ERI. AGANA ERI became euphoric, and she wanted to go up to the surface at any moment she wished, to destroy and to finish with all people, that’s why they have to chain her to the bottom of the ocean, due to a pact that was made with Baba Odùdúwà and ỌLỌ́KUN. Baba Odùdúwà went up to a hill, a rock, and he invoke ỌLỌ́KUN and talk to him. Baba Odùdúwà told ỌLỌ́KUN what was happening with AGANA ERI, and he told ỌLỌ́KUN that if he did not put an end to this situation, he (Odùdúwà) was going to have to talk directly with OLÓFIN, the Supreme Being, and explain the situation to him. Baba Odùdúwà said: “I respect your domains and your form of life, and you should respect the lives of the people of the surface of the Earth.” ỌLỌ́KUN called AGANA ERI, she was euphoric, and she wanted to kill Baba Odùdúwà. ỌLỌ́KUN told AGANA ERI that if she did not calm down, he will punish her, and that he will chain her to the bottom of the ocean. The Pact asked that humanity should respect ỌLỌ́KUN domains, if not he will claim what is his, and will unleash his Wrath. Now a day, Humanity is not respecting’s ỌLỌ́KUN domains, the Wrath of ỌLỌ́KUN and Agana Eri is due…
