SUICIDE AND ORÍ: Teaching given at the Ọdun Ori- Orí Festival by the Spirit Tata Abel, a Spiritual Emissary of Baba Oduduwa. The teaching that this spirit gives is directly received from Baba Oduduwa and are part of the Spiritual revelation of the Mysteries of the Yoruba Esoteric Òòşà/ Òrìşà Tradition and the Ifá Tradition.

Question by Awo Ifalenu: If someone dies with spiritual disturbance, witchcraft or something of that kind, what happens? Spirit Tata Abel answer: Let's suppose a situation about Suicide. Suicide is frowned upon within the Catholic tradition and is the greatest mortal sin that exists. Within the Yorùbá religion, that part is not so stigmatized, however, if one has a conscience. A person who interrupts the path, the destiny, the Orí, here is not so much that he or she will be excommunicated or that he or she will go to hell, no. Within the Religion Yorùbá There is no Hell, remove that from your head. If you are good or bad, all this is paid here and you will be accountable here on Earth. Question by brother Pedro: If someone is going to be born, and they do him an evil spell, curse so that he is not born or is not well? Tata Abel: If it is a provoked thing, the ORÍ is the one that defends the person. If Orí initiation is made and its ceremonials, that is cleaned by doing that, and the person who did the evil will receive in return the evil that they created. When a person commits Suicide, this cuts the path of that ORÍ. Example: Orí says for the destiny of a person that he or she will live up to 80 years old. If you die before reaching those 80 years, the remaining earthly years to fulfill those 80 years, your Spirit - "ÍNU" will be here attached to Earth, which is the time remaining to fulfill what ORÍ- (Your Destiny-Consciousness) indicated for that person (during that specific incarnation). After fulfilling that time, it is when ORÍ returns to its origin. Note by Awo Ifalenu: If the person ORÍ has to live 95 years, and he or she commits suicide at age 22, the remaining 73 years that Spirit will remain bound to Earth as a sprit in sorrow, suffering. Question by Awo Ifalenu: While fulfilling that time, that spirit is like a soul in sorrow in this world? Tata Abel: Yes. I am going to tell the example of a boy name Kevin: When his mother, Anita, was pregnant and was going to give birth, it took a long time, and they did many medical studies and they told her that her baby was dead and that she had to be operated on in an emergency situation. They operated on her, and the grandmother spoke to my Medium (Ẹlẹ̀gún), she consulted Ifá, and Ifá said that everything would be fine and that the baby would live and that the baby had to receive ORÍ to change that part of his destiny. During the operation, the child come that he is alive. In fact, the mother went from one clinic to another clinic. In the first clinic they told her that they could not help her and she went to another clinic to find help. When the child receives Orí, a sign (Odù) that came during the initiation indicates a Short Life for that person. We must remember something, that one of the deities that can speak with the other Òrìşàs through the Oracle is IFÁ. With the other Òrìşà deities, you have to speak directly to them through their Cowrie shells (Erindinlogun) or with Obi Abata or Agbon (coconut). Almost all the Òrìşà have a Cowrie shells to talk to them except for certain Òrìşà who were not given Cowrie shells (such as Olókun Agana Eri, Ibeji, Òsùn, etc.). We talk to Orí about the person through Ifá and Orí says that he will be fine. No one can interrupt the cycle of his life, only his own ORÍ. When you commit suicide, you are cutting the life cycle of your Orí. The inclination of an Ifá Sign in consultation/divination (Osode / Dafá) tells us about the greater tendency it brings, not necessarily if a sign comes "IRE" (with Good Luck) that means that you're fine, you have to do the Ẹbọ / Sacrifice indicated by Ifá to save the situation that the person brings. Nobody can interrupt the cycle of his life, only his own Orí can, when you commit Suicide by your own hand, you are interrupting your Orí's cycle. If a person dies in an accident, due to illness, there is not your hand involved, there is your destiny- Your Orí. If you do it through Suicide, then it is no longer part of your destiny. Sister Clemen asks: Who determines that Kevin is born with this situation? Tata Abel: His own Orí. Since Kevin was in Heaven, he should have done ẸBỌ / Sacrifice before coming to Earth. All of you before you come to this Earth do ẸBỌ / Sacrifice in Heaven / Ọ̀RUN. Awo Ifalenu asks: Is that part of the Oath they make in Heaven before incarnating on Earth? What do you mean? Tata Abel: Your ẸBỌ / Sacrifice that you make in the "Heaven" (spiritual plane) is that you do a Service there before going down to reincarnate on Earth. Remember that Time / space is different there. Before you come to this Earth you do ẸBỌ / Sacrifice by helping a person or helping some ÒRÌŞÀ doing a particular mission. So all of you who are alive here have made ẸBỌ / Sacrifice before coming to this Earth. What happens is when you come from Heaven to Earth. When the conception comes, a mixture of energies comes, so you are not alive since you were born, no. You are alive from the moment of conception in your mother's womb. At the moment you were conceived you go down and that Essence / seed is implanted in the Zygote and it is what gives life and what the body is going to be like, if it is going to be blind, if it is going to be gifted, if it is going to be albino, if it's going to be deformed, if it's going to be pretty or deformed. Not only do you program all that, but more, what comes later in your life.
