Origin of the Cult to Ọlọ́kun If they knew that Ọlọ́kun was not revered as such before. Who was venerated? To Yemaya / Yemoyale. At first Yemaya was worshiped, the kingdom of the sea was attributed to him. Tata why did that happen? Because there was not an Ọlọ́kun to worship. This was like that until Ọlọ́kun came into possession of a human and came out of the sea and told them my name is this, and they have to adore me and made prophecies. Those prophecies were fulfilled, and so the cult of Ọlọ́kun arises when everything he says becomes a reality. Within the traditions was that, where he appeared a temple was built. They were fishermen at sea to fish, time passed and only one returned under spiritual possession of Ọlọ́kun. The man left the sea under Ọlọ́kun's possession, carrying a jar over his head, he came to the village and said that and this and this and this will happen. He put the jar on the ground, and Ọlọ́kun left. The people of the town at that time did not believe it, until the things that Ọlọ́kun had predicted began to happen, they began to believe, and where the deposit was, that tinaja was where they built a temple to Ọlọ́kun. What did the jar have? Seawater. This has happened with certain Orishas deities who did not know each other and make themselves present, and say who they are, and then the adoration of that deity is given. Teaching given by the Spirit Tata Abel, emissary of Baba Oduduwa. Ọlọ́kun
